Using Pinterest to Promote your Business or Blog

Using Pinterest to Promote your Business or Blog - Sarah Rachel Finke

Pinterest is my number one source of traffic to my website.  It focuses on what people are already interested in and are already pinning, so helps to really target people interested in your content.

Pinterest no longer automatically puts pins in people feeds based on the time they are pinned. It ranks pins on Domain quality (Is it a trusted website), Pin quality (high amount of repins and clicks), Pinner Quality (you aren’t only pinning from your blog this increases your credibility & engagement), and Topical relevance. Here are some easy tips to help you become more successful in using Pinterest to promote your business.
1.Join TailWind

This Website schedules times to repin your pins.  That allows more people to see them without you having to take the time to repin them however often you choose.  The more frequent obviously the more they are seen and traffic goes to your website. This saves you hours a week and since Pinterest is my biggest source of traffic to my website this is well worth the money and time saved.  If you click this link you can get your first month free. 🙂  One of my favorite parts of Tailwind is you can categorize your boards.  This helps to organize your boards on topic or how often you can post in group boards if there is a rule about how often or how many pins.

2. Update your name to include info about your business

This allows your profile to show up when people search those keywords.

3. Make your Pinterest Boards and Pins Titles Descriptions Detailed.

This gives you more keywords to show up in searches.

  • Include a keyword of who the pin is for
  • How would you describe this pin to someone else?
  • What about this pin is interesting to you.
  • What keywords would a someone use if they were searching for a pin like this?
4. Make sure all of your boards have at least 50 pins in them.

Preferably of good quality, you can use the website TailWind to find good quality pins to help improve your boards quality.

5. Search your keyword in Pinterest and it will show up right underneath it other common keywords that people search for!

This is an amazing way to find keywords to put in your pins or even blog posts or to use as hashtags in other social media posts to get them found

5. Add new content to your boards each week

Adding new content to your board keeps them active, so they continue to show up on pinner’s feeds.

6. Have Good Pin Images

Use vertical/portrait photos so they appear longer on someone’s feed as they are scrolling, min 600 px wide so when clicked and blown up it doesn’t pixelate.

7. Join Community Groups on Pinterest

You can search a topic and type”group board” or “collaborative board” after it.   Make sure to read the rules to make sure you don’t get kicked out.    PinGroupie.com is also a good website to find group boards.
